Harriet Cormack is New Home Forward Board Chair

February 6, 2012 -- Harriet Cormack is the new chair of the Board of Commissioners of Home Forward.  Cormack replaces Lee Moore, who will serve as chair emeritus.  Additional board officers for 2012 are David Widmark, vice chair, and Jim Smith, treasurer.

With public agencies that receive federal funding facing challenging times, "the board will continue its efforts to stretch resources creatively, enabling us to serve as many people in need as possible," Cormack said, "One of the bright spots on the horizon is our Stephens Creek Crossing redevelopment in Southwest Portland, which will create jobs and double the number of affordable homes on the site."  She also cited preservation investments in existing Home Forward apartment communities as a priority for the organization.

Cormack has served on the Home Forward board since 2003.  She was co-chair of the Community Advisory Committee for the development of the Bud Clark Commons and serves in the same role for the Stephens Creek Crossing redevelopment.  She brings the experience born of a long and successful career in affordable housing, real estate development, and project management to her Home Forward board tenure.

Home Forward's board is a nine-member citizen commission.  Commissioners are appointed by one of three jurisdictions Home Forward serves -- the City of Portland, Multnomah County, and the City of Gresham -- and approved by the Portland City Council.
