January 22, 2014 -- David Widmark was recently elected chair of Home Forward’s board of commissoners and took office in January 2014.  A member of the commission since 2009, Widmark is the agency’s first chair from east Multnomah County.

Other board officers are Jim Smith, vice chair; Catherine Such, treasurer; and Harriet Cormack, chair emeritus.

Chair Widmark brings strong public sector and leadership experience to his new role.  He served on the Gresham City Council four times, including two years as council president.  He was chair for five of his seven years on the Gresham Planning Commission and chaired the City Finance Committee.

He retired from a 36-year career with the U.S. Forest Service.

“As chair, I want to continue our work to provide healthy housing for all of our constituents.  We need to take a holistic approach, partnering with others to deal with the issues that can impact our clients and the community at large,” Widmark said.
In addition, he has a special interest in the agency’s programs for children that create a stable foundation from which they can pursue education and programs for seniors and persons with disabilities that help them remain in their homes as they age.
